She is finally safe

Bethany here, back by popular demand.

(If only. There was no popular (or even unpopular) demand whatsoever. Instead, the HBIC instructed me to give the people what they want.)

And specifically, what the people want, ie the actual popular demand, is a Cassandra update. So please enjoy the video immediately below and the freedom photos in the comments.

Since y'all wanted to hear from Cassandra, she had a challenge for everyone.

She survived this day because this community took her survival into its own hands and refused to let her die. Because it realized that WE are the "someone" who can "please save this girl."

So her challenge to you is this. What's ONE thing you can do to advocate for the next Cassandra?

Yes, you. Specifically you.

It could be small, it could be big. It could be starting your own rescue or agreeing to foster or adopting a new rescue or developing a new legal reform initiative protecting shelter or rescue animals (seriously, don't let us stop you if you are inclined to shoot for the stars). Or it could be honoring a $5 pledge to a rescue, offering to transport locally even once as part of a rescue initiative, or volunteering to socialize dogs at your local shelter (which SBC indicated they would sincerely appreciate support from anyone who can make it there). It could have something to do with H3 and it might have nothing whatsoever to do with H3. Doesn't matter.

The sky's the limit and the choice is yours.

But if you wanted one really easy thing you could do to advocate for the next Cassandra, let me offer this.

Engage just one person in your life who doesn't know about H3 about our work, tell them why it matters (and matters to you), and have them follow us. (You can helpfully guide them to the right account on social media.)

Because you never know when you are introducing us to the next donor, adopter, volunteer, employee, grantor... Or to someone who is going to introduce us to one of those people, either directly or by downstream reaction. For this reason, the vast majority of the dogs whom H3 has saved have lived, in part, due to the power of this growing community on social media.

If you already have everyone you know following H3, first you rock, and second, that is no obstacle to participating in this challenge. Talk to the next stranger you encounter and repeat the process.

It's not as bad as it sounds. I did it this morning (among the hundreds of times that I've done it). Shout out to one of H3's newest followers, a lovely woman with two dogs whom I met at the gastropub at ONT this morning while waiting for our appointment to go pick up Cassandra.

Cassandra says, unless you're going to implement one of those other ideas, why not give it a whirl? The next Cassandra's life depends on it.

Thank you for this community to coming together to rescue her. Let's do it again. Often.

So precious! Glad she is out of that shelter. Thank you all at H3 for going to extra ordinary lengths to save her. 🤗
