From National Rescue Dog Day shoutouts to charming husky intros and final raffle reminders, Monday and Tuesday were full of heart, hustle, and husky energy at Husky Halfway House.
Here’s everything you may have missed:
Monday, May 19: Park Patrol + Meet Denali
Annabelle and Carter kicked off the week with a classic Husky Halfway moment—park patrol with the pack. These two young handlers led the crew out for fresh air, zoomies, and some good old-fashioned husky chaos.
Later that day, we spotlighted Denali, a 2.5-year-old husky mix with one brown eye, one blue, and a whole lot of playful sass. He’s been with us for over 540 days after arriving with his brother Tacoma. Denali thrives in a small, balanced pack and would do best in a medium-to-high energy home with humans who’ve got his back.
Tuesday, May 20: National Rescue Dog Day + Charley’s Calm Vibes
Tuesday was all about love and loyalty for National Rescue Dog Day. Our on-site team shared their favorite rescue dogs—and the sweet (and often silly) reasons why they’ve stolen their hearts:
Melissa’s favorite is Rumble! She always finds him first thing in the morning for belly rubs and chats. He flops onto his back (because sitting upright is apparently optional), and they share the best conversations.
Toby’s favorite is Oreo! This sassy, talkative boy always demands attention—and when they see each other, it’s a guaranteed highlight of the day.
Star’s favorite is Samuel! A big teddy bear with a unique bark and a big heart. He’s always excited to see her—even if she’s usually cleaning up after him.
Carter’s favorite is Max! These two have a bond that’s unbreakable. From meals to floor cuddles, Carter and Max are truly best friends for life.
Annabelle’s favorites are Jack & Akay! Her first shelter pull was Jack, but when they met his shy daughter Akay, they couldn’t leave her behind. These two love Annabelle just as much as she loves them.
Spren’s favorite is Huckleberry! A little grumpy, a little talkative—but a total sweetheart. They’re two peas in a pod.
Kathy’s favorite is Oakley! With his silly “Oakley-ing” behavior and constant need to be near his people, this grumbly guy keeps her smiling.
Mike’s favorite is Nova! She’s come a long way—from nipping to giving kisses. Her sass and sweet side have completely stolen Mike’s heart.
Jenni’s favorite is Simply Red! He’s her heart dog. She promised him a new life, and when he’s ready for a forever home, she’ll rescue the next one. That’s her why.
It was a beautiful reminder of what makes rescue so special: the bonds that form in the in-between.

We also featured Charley, a 4-year, 8-month-old husky introvert who prefers peace over chaos. He’s got a quiet soul, a soft spot for snacks, and strong opinions about personal space. Charley would thrive in a calm home with low-drama vibes and a human who gets him.
