The rest of the concrete has been ordered and will be poured next week. I have to come up with TWENTY THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. NOW. Wait. 23.5 for the current concrete job. Why so much concrete? For many reasons. Germ control is huge. Concrete is so much easier to keep sanitized. The muddy ground is a breeding ground for canine parasites. Concrete keeps the mud off their paws and out of their kennels where dust and dirt can collect in the air systems and then we are all breathing it. The other biggest reason is it makes my fencing dig proof. We live near a highway and if they dig out that’s the first place they run to.
If I learned any lesson in dog rescue it’s that concrete has to be our foundation.
This next round being poured is 4 foot sidewalks around the main play yards so that I can let the dogs roam safely without worrying about them escaping and it also keeps people safe and mud free when they are here cleaning or visiting the huskies. It’s necessary and well, more than necessary. If we want to rescue dogs at this scale then our facility needs to be able to care for them properly.
