A beaten husky, a broken system, and a freedom walk that changed everything.
These last two days have been heavy. For the dogs. For us. For the future of rescue.
We’re between adoptions and catching our breath just long enough to regroup and gear up for the next wave. But rest is never really rest in rescue. Not when your morning paper is the euthanasia list.

While most people scroll headlines over coffee, Jenni scrolls shelter lists. That’s how we found out two more huskies didn’t make it out alive. One was pregnant. One was covered in fly bites. Both are dead.
That’s what this week started with. That’s the weight we carry every time we say “we’re full” or “not today.”

🐾 Shelterbust Time: Meet the Husky Who Bit Her Owner Plus Two New Rescues
This one hit hard. A husky bit her owner because she was being beaten for peeing on the floor. The shelter labeled her unadoptable. Her fate was sealed. But we don’t let trauma write the ending. We rewrite it.
And then there’s Candy. Locked up in a rural shelter with no scanner, no resources, and a 48-hour deadline. We showed up just in time. She’s ours now.
