We made our match!

Thank you to everyone for their support!

Thanks to everyone’s incredible support, we hit our $50,000 match goal!

That match helps keep Husky Halfway House running-covering all of the day-to-day expenses it takes to care for 170 huskies until they find their forever homes.

But we’re not slowing down. Rob is loading up the van for the next adoption rescue ride, and we still need three more huskies to fill this trip. Once they’re matched with their families, we’ll hit the road—and we’ll need some help driving them home.

Every mile, every match, every ride happens because of you.

Callidora FKA Cosette is no longer halfway home!

Her story started on the streets of San Bernardino, CA, where she and her brother Javert were found as scared, skinny pups. They ended up on the euthanasia list at just eight months old—but Husky Halfway House stepped in.

Cosette was terrified when she arrived. She kept her distance, didn’t want to be touched, and watched us from the corners of the room. It took months of patience and quiet kindness before she finally started to trust.

Then one day, a family said yes—yes to her story, yes to her fear, yes to loving her exactly as she was. By the time we loaded up for her rescue ride, she was ready. Somewhere on that journey, her walls started to crumble. She played. She accepted scratches. She smiled.

Now, she’s home—living her best life as Callidora Blackburn, named after her new mom’s Harry Potter pack: Sirius, Bellatrix, and now Callidora.

From her mom, Sarah:

“She’s still shy but has come so far. She’s our morning snuggler now, loves her chew bones, and prefers backyard zoomies over long walks. She’s truly one of us.”

Live your best life, Callidora. You were always meant to be a queen.

Together, They Found Their Spark Again

Kota and Marshmallow are already showing us what a difference space—and the company of other huskies—can make. Kota was struggling in the shelter, shutting down fast without his sister by his side. Marshmallow held on, but she wasn’t herself either. The moment they were reunited and had room to run, everything changed. A few days with Jenni and the pack, and it’s like life came back into them.

Huskies don’t do well in shelters—they’re social, intelligent dogs who need freedom, movement, and connection. Seeing these two come alive again is the perfect reminder of why we do this.

If anyone is ready to open their home to this sweet sibling pair, it means Jenni can turn right around and save another husky still waiting behind shelter walls.

While we prep for the next ride, here are two easy (and tasty!) ways to keep helping:

Whether it’s a pasta dinner at home or orange chicken on the go, these small acts of kindness add up. They keep our doors open, our kennels clean, and our huskies one step closer to home.

Because every rescue ride matters. Every match saves a life.

'Til they all have homes,

The Husky Halfway House Team
