Just look at that curl!

That right there is an amazing testament to the resiliency of these dogs and the amazing work that fosters can do.

There are times when we can’t provide something for our huskies. That is when we need fosters to step in. Niko is our prime example of this. He needs to live in a home, where he can be kept clean(er) and taken to the groomers regularly.

Shout out to Courtney Sanderson Ford for the awesome work! Thank you!

Even though we have a fantastic groomer on site now, there are 200 plus other huskies that need her attention. And it doesn't help that Niko does not like being bathed, blow dried or brushed. So, he needs extra time and extra care, which he comes by naturally.

When Niko came to us, his tail had to be shaved all the way down to the skin, it was so matted and covered in poop. It looked like there was a stick where his tail should be and of course his skin underneath was a mess. Which meant he was itchy and uncomfortable. Eventually, his hair started growing back and he got adopted.

And then surrendered to animal control by that same individual in less than 48 hours. She lied and said he broke into her house so they would come take him away and back to a shelter pen. The very place we promise them all that they will never have to see again. We picked him up ASAP. They all seem to know that they are safe with the rescue team.

But that special, gorgeous white coat of his was suffering. The huskies play rough, they get dirty and wet and muddy. Especially in summer when it is the easiest way to keep cool. So, we needed a foster home to give him that extra special care.

And he is thriving! Don't let that little grumpy face fool you. Niko absolutely adores people and attention. He wants to please and will be your best friend for life-especially if you give him treats. The meatier/stinkier the better. Zoomies should be his middle name because this boy gets those spurts of high energy in between bouts of lounging around.

We are going to be particular about who adopts Niko, in fact, he will need to be adopted in South Carolina, so he can stay near his foster mama. And this time, it will be forever.

Wow! What a transformation! Niko, is one beautiful dog! Too bad, that he has had to suffer so much hardship at human hands!
