Or more accurately, he needs help. We're at Riverside surrounded by dozens of urgent huskies, some deadlined and all at risk.
This kid - known to the world simply as A1796799 - has only been here five days. He's just off stray hold. There is absolutely no way we can justify taking a dog who has only been here five days when it might mean a long termer dies.
But he doesn't care about that logic. He knows that he's in pain and he needs to leave. RIGHT NOW. He has been howling and screaming incessantly all morning and the only way I can get him to stop is to sit next to him and let him press his body against my hands. He's still very stressed, but it calms him enough that he stops crying (video in comments).
I want to help him. And I even have a name for him. But I need to show Jenni an adoption application for him so I can justify pulling him as not taking a spot from an urgent dog who would otherwise die. Can you help me help him?

ETA folks we know that potential adopters will have a ton of questions. There are some that we won't be able to answer right now, because this is a dog who has only been at the shelter for 5 days who does not have a lot of behavioral notes. The dog will go back to H3 if tagged, and will be behaviorally and medically assessed before placement. At that point, we will have a lot more information. No one will be stuck with a dog who is not the right fit for their family and their pack just because they submitted an adoption application. But we want to know that there is adoption interest before pulling, so that we make sure that we're not taking a less urgent dog (although he thinks he's the most urgent) at the expense of someone else's life.
ETA x 2 We are receiving a number of messages from people who are not able to adopt but want to donate to support this effort. So, as a reminder, you can also donate directly to huskyhalfwayhouse@gmail.com on Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle. We have one more van coming out to pull dogs from Riverside in a couple of days, so all of your contributions will be much appreciated and will help us defray the cost of that pull. I'm very hopeful that we can get this dog on it.
I so pray for this boy someone adopts him and Jenni takes him in 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❣️
