Polka Dot's story is one that has stayed with us..
She came from the Wagner, Oklahoma puppy mill. Jenni actually rescued her once before, but a court order required that she be returned. It was heartbreaking. Frustrating. All the "ings"..
The second time, Jenni was finally able to bring her halfway home for good..
Now Polka Dot is finally free, and we would love nothing more than for her to spend her golden years with a family who will love her the way she has always deserved..
Because she spent so many of her formative years in a puppy mill, Polka Dot is naturally on the shy side. But as you can see, she has learned that the team is kind and she absolutely soaks up every bit of love she's offered..
She's an older lady, she's going on 9 years old, but don't mistake that for fragile. Polka Dot still has plenty of spirit and isn't afraid to remind younger huskies to mind their manners. She does a wonderful job of setting boundaries when another dog gets a little too pushy..
She also has one surprising talent that catches people off guard..
Polka Dot is an escape artist..
If she's left alone outside, she's known to climb, so she'll need a home where someone can keep a close eye on her or where she'll spend most of her time indoors. She would be a great apartment husky or with some loving helicopter parents. Polka Dot doesn't mind one bit if you're always checking on her. In fact, she'd probably prefer it..
Like many huskies, Polka Dot also has a high prey drive, so she's looking for a home without cats or other small animals..
She's been at Husky Halfway House for a year now. We know she's safe here, and that's something we'll never take for granted after everything she's been through. But she's ready for more than safe. She's ready for a couch, a family, and someone who thinks she's worth fussing over every single day..
The love of a rescue husky is immeasurable, and Polka Dot radiates it. She has so much love left to give, and we know her person is out there somewhere.
H3 Virtual Adoptions
Every Husky at Husky Halfway House needs food, medical care, shelter, and love every single day.It costs about $10 a day to care for one dog, and with over a hundred huskies on-site and transport currently paused, we need your help more than ever.
That’s where Virtual Adoptions come in.
When you virtually adopt, you’re sponsoring one of our Halfway Huskies while they wait for their forever home. You’re helping cover their daily care, meals, medication, and their second chance.
How it works
You choose your husky and your level of sponsorship, and we’ll take care of the rest.
If your chosen dog’s sponsorship is already met for the month, your donation will automatically go toward the next husky with the highest need.
If your husky gets adopted, we’ll contact you with the details of your new Halfway Husky and offer the option to switch or continue your sponsorship.
