Two weeks ago, I met Noah for the first time.
If you had told me then that he once had to leave the shelter in a kennel for everyone's safety, I would have had a hard time believing it.
Noah came to Husky Halfway House from SEAACA scared, reactive, and determined to keep people away. He had learned that if he acted scary enough, people would leave him alone.
And that was exactly what he wanted.
But Jenni, Melissa, and the team didn't back down.
They didn't leave him alone.
They gave him food. They talked to him. They let him be part of the pack.
And the pack did what the pack does.
One of the biggest tools we have at H3 is pack therapy. Noah got to watch other huskies trust people, seek out affection, play, and just be dogs. Little by little, he learned from them that maybe people weren't something he had to fear after all.
The first time I saw him, I was talking to Carter in the dog park when this giant black-and-white husky came barreling into me like a linebacker. Thankfully, I stayed on my feet because he was playing and we all got a good laugh.
After that, every time he saw me, he'd run over, throw his paws over my shoulders, and demand attention.
That's the Noah I know.
A husky who once wanted everyone to stay away now seeks out affection. Hugs.
Noah isn't currently adoptable and may never be, because he still has bad days. And that's okay.
Sometimes rescue isn't about finding a forever home.
Sometimes it's about becoming one. ❤️🐾
If Noah's story touched your heart, consider becoming his virtual adopter. Your support helps provide food, medical care, enrichment, and all the things that make sanctuary possible.

H3 Virtual Adoptions
Every Husky at Husky Halfway House needs food, medical care, shelter, and love every single day.It costs about $10 a day to care for one dog, and with over a hundred huskies on-site and transport currently paused, we need your help more than ever.
That’s where Virtual Adoptions come in.
When you virtually adopt, you’re sponsoring one of our Halfway Huskies while they wait for their forever home. You’re helping cover their daily care, meals, medication, and their second chance.
How it works
You choose your husky and your level of sponsorship, and we’ll take care of the rest.
If your chosen dog’s sponsorship is already met for the month, your donation will automatically go toward the next husky with the highest need.
If your husky gets adopted, we’ll contact you with the details of your new Halfway Husky and offer the option to switch or continue your sponsorship.
