Loretta

Loretta is 12 years old and available for adoption.

She would love a home where someone has plenty of time to give her the constant attention she deserves. And if you get busy, don’t worry, she will remind you with her very special voice.

It is raspy and old lady perfect.

Loretta came to us from the OKC shelter about a week before Christmas last year.

And honestly, it makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

Was she dumped so someone could get a new puppy? Did her family not have the money for vet care? Did they just not want to deal with an old dog who needed help?

We don’t know.

What we do know is that Loretta was in rough shape when we found her. Not only was she a senior in the shelter, she was also skinny, mostly blind in one eye, covered in masses, and dealing with a lot of infection.

Like, a lot.

But look at her now.

Loretta is healthy, happy, safe, and living her best life in the Elders Den. She has friends. She has people who love her. She has bone broth, which she would like everyone to know is one of her favorite things.

But it could still be better.

Because as much as we love watching our seniors settle in and realize they are safe, rescue should not have to be the last soft place they ever know.

Loretta deserves a home of her own. A couch of her own. A person who thinks her raspy little voice is the best sound in the world.

After only a few years in rescue, it gets really easy to expect the worst from people.

But I would love for Loretta to prove me wrong.
