Goober
Male
7Y/3M/22D

This beautiful boy showed up as a stray to the Stanislaus shelter back in April of last year, and he was not happy to be there. He was stressed, which made him not extremely friendly with shelter staff, at least at first. Once he had a chance to warm up to new people and get out in the yard to stretch his legs, he let shelter volunteers pet him and walk him on a leash with no issues. But he was still labeled as "aloof" and "staff only". Then in June he ended up on the euthanasia list, twice. The first week that he was scheduled to die, he got a reprieve. Someone sponsored his adoption fee but that only earned him one more week. And yet no one adopted him.

He didn't do anything wrong. Just another stray husky in an overcrowded state, in an overcrowded country. Lucky for him, H3 rescued him. And now he is ready to find the next step of his journey. His own forever home.

His name says it all, he has so much personality and it is all geared towards husky shenanigans. He will leave you shaking your head and going " how in the world did you do that", while smiling the whole time.

Goober thinks he is top dog, and gets beaten up quite often, because he is not even close to the sassiest of sassholes. He will pick fights until he learns better, basically he just loves to test everyone's boundaries.

Absolutely loves treats, in general he is very food motivated. Though he can get a little possessive over things, especially if they get taken from him. Something his new home could help him work through. Overall, he is just a goofy dude with a sweet side and a sassy side. And he could use a family that is fairly active to help burn off some energy.
H3 Virtual Adoptions
Every Husky at Husky Halfway House needs food, medical care, shelter, and love every single day.It costs about $10 a day to care for one dog, and with over a hundred huskies on-site and transport currently paused, we need your help more than ever.
That’s where Virtual Adoptions come in.
When you virtually adopt, you’re sponsoring one of our Halfway Huskies while they wait for their forever home. You’re helping cover their daily care, meals, medication, and their second chance.
How it works
You choose your husky and your level of sponsorship, and we’ll take care of the rest.
If your chosen dog’s sponsorship is already met for the month, your donation will automatically go toward the next husky with the highest need.
If your husky gets adopted, we’ll contact you with the details of your new Halfway Husky and offer the option to switch or continue your sponsorship.
