Meet Charlie... also known as Mr. Charles Barkley. And we can't talk about Charlie without his soulmate, Peppermint..
.
Charlie and Peppermint both came to us from California. They're sassholes... they have very strong opinions about other dogs, and no interest in changing..
.
They both have what we call "strong husky language." They're loud, dramatic, communicate with their whole bodies, and can be a little intimidating if you're not used to huskies. To us, they're just being huskies. Because of that, they're part of our sanctuary family unless the absolute perfect adopter comes along..
.
The funny part? They absolutely adore each other..
.
Right now they're enjoying a little vacation in our quarantine building. Nothing is wrong with either of them, we promise! Since it's empty, they get to enjoy the air conditioning and a little peace and quiet away from the other dog groups. Sometimes even professional sassholes deserve a break..
.
Charlie loves toys, treats, and full-body hugs. If you stop by their fence, don't be surprised if Peppermint presses herself against it to convince you she desperately needs butt scratches. Charlie is right behind her, and suddenly it's a full-blown attention party..
.
Peppermint was tagged for rescue, and then the shelter called to tell us she was having puppies! Her babies were born there before the whole family made their way to H3. Every one of her little patties found forever homes. We hoped the same would happen for her, but sometimes a spicy husky personality is more than most people are prepared for. Around here, we love her exactly as she is..
.
One of our favorite stories is that Wallace's adopter (Wallace is one of Peppermint's little patties) also virtually adopted Peppermint and covers her entire month of care. We think that's a pretty special way to honor where he came from..
.
Now we'd love to do the same for Charlie..
.
Just 25 people giving $10 covers his care for a month. Or one incredible supporter can sponsor him for $250..
.
Charlie may be a sasshole, but he's our sasshole... and we wouldn't have him any other way. ❤️

H3 Virtual Adoptions

Every Husky at Husky Halfway House needs food, medical care, shelter, and love every single day.It costs about $10 a day to care for one dog, and with over a hundred huskies on-site and transport currently paused, we need your help more than ever.

That’s where Virtual Adoptions come in.
When you virtually adopt, you’re sponsoring one of our Halfway Huskies while they wait for their forever home. You’re helping cover their daily care, meals, medication, and their second chance.

How it works
You choose your husky and your level of sponsorship, and we’ll take care of the rest.
If your chosen dog’s sponsorship is already met for the month, your donation will automatically go toward the next husky with the highest need.
If your husky gets adopted, we’ll contact you with the details of your new Halfway Husky and offer the option to switch or continue your sponsorship.
