Buck's story is nothing short of a miracle. This beautiful boy is alive today because of a single, pivotal moment. On the day he was set to be euthanized, a networker at the Southern California shelter shared a video of Buck sitting in a outdoor cage on a day where temperatures were nearing 100. Her voice cracked as she gently told him it would be okay, even though she knew what was coming. He was scheduled to die that day. That moment tugged at Bethany's heart in a way she couldn't ignore.
Bethany immediately called Jenni and told her they had to find a way for him to live. Jenni, always juggling a million rescue tasks, gave Bethany the go-ahead to figure out his boarding, fees, etc.-and that's exactly what she did.
At the shelter, Buck had resisted his intake exam to the point that they couldn't even tell if he was neutered. In general, he was a grumpy husky who clearly did not want to be there. And let's be honest-those huskies are harder to adopt out.
Luckily, we've discovered that Buck is super sweet and amazing. In fact, the staff chose him as one of eight dogs to do a video shoot with a high school football team! Buck is an attention seeker, always making sure to find his people when he wants affection or a treat. If you've got treats on you, don't worry-he's going to find them.
He's definitely a higher-energy boy. While his age was initially estimated to be around five years old, with his endless energy, we're thinking he's closer to three. Buck gets along great with the other huskies here at the rescue. He's playful and respectful, never causing fights over food or attention.
Overall, Buck is just a super fun husky who loves people and hugs (seriously, he gives the absolute best hugs). It's time for the world to truly see him.

Every Husky at Husky Halfway House needs food, medical care, shelter, and love every single day.It costs about $10 a day to care for one dog, and with over a hundred huskies on-site and transport currently paused, we need your help more than ever.

That’s where Virtual Adoptions come in.
When you virtually adopt, you’re sponsoring one of our Halfway Huskies while they wait for their forever home. You’re helping cover their daily care, meals, medication, and their second chance.

How it works
You choose your husky and your level of sponsorship, and we’ll take care of the rest.
If your chosen dog’s sponsorship is already met for the month, your donation will automatically go toward the next husky with the highest need.
If your husky gets adopted, we’ll contact you with the details of your new Halfway Husky and offer the option to switch or continue your sponsorship.
