Who Can Adopt?
If you live in the contiguous United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories), you're welcome to apply!
You don't need previous husky experience, homeownership, a fenced yard, or a specific family structure to be considered.
Every application is reviewed individually because our goal is to find the best fit for both the husky and the adopter. We don't place dogs on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, we look at each husky's personality, needs, and history to find the home setup that gives them the best chance to thrive.
What We Look For:
Every husky is unique, but these are the qualities we value in every potential adopter:
✓ A safe, loving home-Where your husky will live indoors as a member of the family and receive the care, exercise, and enrichment they need.
✓ A willingness to learn-Huskies are intelligent, energetic dogs with unique personalities and needs.
✓ A commitment to responsible pet care-Including routine veterinary care, vaccinations, preventatives, and spay/neuter for household pets unless medically exempt.
✓ The right fit-Some huskies thrive in homes without young children, cats, or other pets, while others enjoy having furry companions.
✓ A lifelong commitment-We're looking for homes prepared to love their husky through every stage of life.
✓ A lasting relationship-Adopting from H3 means becoming part of our family. We'll always be here to offer guidance and support throughout your husky's life.

The process
At Husky Halfway House, our adoption process is designed to set both your future husky and you up for long-term success. Every step is intentional, ensuring that our huskies find loving, committed homes and that adopters are well-prepared for the journey ahead.
Step 1: The Application
Your adoption journey begins with an online application where you'll answer a series of detailed questions. These questions help us understand your lifestyle, experience, and what you're looking for in a husky.
Step 2: Application Review
Once you submit your application, our team will carefully review it to learn more about you, your household, and what you're looking for in a husky.
If we have any questions or need additional information, we'll reach out by email. During this stage, we will verify references, contact your veterinarian or landlord (when applicable), and review any information needed to ensure we're making the best possible match.
We'll also answer any questions you submitted with your application and clarify our adoption policies as needed, so you know exactly what to expect before moving forward.
Once your application is complete, it will be passed to our matchmaking team, who will contact you by text message to begin discussing potential matches.
Step 3: The Matchmaking Process
Once your application has been approved, our matchmaking team will contact you by text message to begin getting to know you and what you're looking for in a companion.
Once you receive your first text from the H3 adoption team, we recommend saving the number in your contacts. This will make it easy to find our conversation if you need to reach us or follow up throughout the adoption process.
We'll talk about any huskies that have caught your eye while also recommending dogs we believe would be a great fit based on their personality, history, energy level, and needs. Because every adoption is match-based, the husky that's the best fit for your home may not always be the one you originally applied for.
Together, we'll narrow down the possibilities through:
✓ Virtual meet-and-greets (when available)
✓ Honest conversations about each husky's personality, needs, and quirks
✓ Personalized guidance from our adoption team
✓ Finding the home where each husky has the best chance to thrive
Step 4: The Home Check
Before finalizing the adoption, we'll schedule a virtual home check to ensure your home is safe and ready for your new husky.
This isn't about having a perfect home. It's an opportunity for us to answer any last-minute questions, discuss your dog's transition, and identify any potential safety concerns before your newest family member arrives.
We know every home is different, and our goal is to help set both you and your husky up for a successful start together.
Step 5: Adoption Day
Once everything is approved, it's time to meet your new family member!
Adopters should be prepared to travel to Husky Halfway House in Eufaula, Oklahoma to complete their adoption and bring their husky home. Before you leave, we'll review any final paperwork, answer last-minute questions, and make sure you have everything you need for a successful transition.
Our transportation options may change over time, so if transportation is available for your adoption, our team will discuss those details with you during the adoption process.
Step 6: WELCOME TO THE H3 FAMILY
Your adoption may be complete, but your journey with H3 is just beginning.
When you adopt from Husky Halfway House, you become part of our family. We're always here to answer questions, offer guidance, celebrate milestones, or help you navigate challenges along the way.
We love receiving updates and photos (seriously-we never get tired of them!), and we encourage our adopters to stay connected with us throughout their husky's life.
Our commitment doesn't end on adoption day. If life ever takes an unexpected turn and you can no longer care for your H3 husky, they'll always have a place with us.

All of our Halfway Huskies are fully vetted before getting adopted, including spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, heartworm prevention, and dewormer. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, We do not charge adoption fees.

Ready to welcome a husky into your family?
Your application is the first step toward helping us find the right match for both you and one of our rescue dogs. The more information you share, the better we'll be able to match you with a husky whose personality, needs, and lifestyle are a great fit for your home.
Before applying, we encourage you to review our adoption process and browse our adoptable huskies. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do we transport?
Our transportation options vary depending on our rescue operations, volunteer availability, and scheduling. At this time, adopters should be prepared to travel to Husky Halfway House in Eufaula, Oklahoma to complete their adoption.
If transportation becomes available for your adoption, our team will discuss those options with you during the adoption process.
Do we need fosters?
Husky Halfway House is not a traditional foster-based rescue. Most of our huskies come directly to our rescue property for rehabilitation, veterinary care, training, and evaluation before being adopted.
Occasionally, a husky may benefit from a foster home to prepare for adoption or to meet specific medical or behavioral needs. When those opportunities arise, we'll share them with our community.
Because foster opportunities are rare, we only accept foster applications when we have a specific need. If you see a post that we're looking for a foster home, please email howl@huskyhalfwayhouse.org to learn more.
Are your huskies spayed and neutered?
All H3 huskies are spayed or neutered before adoption whenever medically appropriate. If a puppy or medically exempt dog is adopted before the procedure can be performed, the adopter must agree to complete the spay or neuter according to the terms of their adoption agreement.
Because preventing unwanted litters is central to our mission, we ask that all household pets be spayed or neutered unless there is a documented medical reason not to. If your pets are not altered, please be prepared to explain the reason in your application.
Husky Halfway House exists to rescue dogs from the shelter system, where thousands of adoptable dogs lose their lives every week. Because of that, we strongly support responsible pet ownership, including spaying and neutering to help reduce pet overpopulation.
If you intentionally choose not to spay or neuter your pets for reasons other than veterinary recommendation or a documented medical condition, our philosophies are not aligned, and we are not the right rescue for you.
Do I need a fenced yard?
No. We don't require a fenced yard because every husky is different. Some are excellent escape artists, while others have no interest in jumping or climbing.
Even at our rescue, where we use specialized containment, we've cared for huskies capable of jumping or climbing impressive barriers. That's why we focus on matching each dog with the right containment plan rather than requiring the same fence for everyone.
What matters most is that you have a safe, reliable plan to keep your husky secure. If your husky will spend time outdoors unsupervised, we'll want to discuss the type of containment you'll be using to ensure it's appropriate for that individual dog.
Keep in mind that many huskies are capable of jumping or climbing a standard 4-foot fence, so we'll work with you to determine what will be safest for your match.
What if I can no longer keep my H3 husky?
Life doesn't always go as planned, and we understand that circumstances can change. If you ever reach a point where you can no longer care for your H3 husky, please contact us before making any other arrangements.
Do not rehome your H3 husky yourself. Instead, our team will work with you to determine the best path forward. Whether that means helping resolve the issue, providing guidance, or welcoming your husky back into our care, we're committed to doing what's best for the dog.
Every H3 husky was given a second chance with us, and that commitment doesn't end on adoption day.

If you can no longer care for your adopted H3 husky, they must be returned to us. When we rescue a dog, we make them a promise that they will never have to face the shelter system alone again. By working together, we can honor that promise and ensure every H3 husky remains safe, loved, and protected for life.
