This is Neo. He was our third rescue. He is a tiny little thing weighing less than 40lbs. Neo is the immature, louder one in the pack with his raspy voice, silly behavior and very intense look. We joke that Neo is the other half of our other tiny, less than 40lb husky.
It wasn't until Neo entered my life did it hit me that this is what we are meant to do.... rescue huskies and other Nordic breeds that are on death row at 'kill' shelters. So so many huskies, and any breed for that matter, do not do well in a 'kill' shelter setting so they lose their lives because society thinks that they should act like well behaved children before they can be adopted regardless of the abuse they have suffered or whether or not they have been living in a cage or on the streets hungry, cold and alone. I don't know Neo's history but I can tell by his behavior why he was put on death row.. It took us about 6 months to get Neo to learn his manners but in reality, it took that long for him to trust us vs us trusting him.
Neo found his forever home when he came home with us so he is not up for adoption. We knew right away that he would be a forever part of our family. He is doing great and has settled in nicely with his two brothers.
Our goal is to be able to bring our fosters and rescues into our pack and into our home so that they get to interact and socialize with other dogs and well, learn what it is like to be treated like family, not locked in a cage with just the basic needs and a hope that someone will come along and save them. We look forward to sharing the love in our hearts and in our home with those that are waiting for their forever homes.
Please be patient with us while we build or facilities and programs. We want to grow organically based on the needs of the community. Please help support our work by liking our FB page, not so that we can get famous, but because the more people that see our posts the higher the chance is that our fosters will find a home. It could be a friend of a friend of a friend so be a friend and like us on FB. @huskyhalfwayhouse
